Interview with our Support & Implementation Specialist James Bosworth

1. What three words would you use to describe your role?

Patience, Adaptability and Care.

2. How long have you been at ExpenseIn, and how has your role evolved over time?

I have just celebrated my sixth anniversary of working for ExpenseIn. Aside from getting busier helping more and more customers get on board, our product has gone through many changes through the release of new exciting features and modules for me to learn and support. It’s been a joy to watch the business and product go from strength to strength.

3. What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day for me is a juggle of implementations, where I’m helping new customers get their accounts set up and taking them through features, as well as supporting existing customers with support queries via email, live chat and phone calls.

4. What is your favourite part of working at our company?

I love seeing how much of a difference our product makes to our customers’ businesses and being part of that journey.

5. What advice would you give to recent new starters?

Our system has a lot of features to learn, so start simple and work up.

6. What are you most proud of in your career so far?

I won the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Group Training Association Apprentice of the Year 2014. I was especially proud of myself for this as I was up against some stiff competition, and this was after a rather drastic career change (more on that below) which has led me to my role at ExpenseIn.

7. What’s your most memorable facepalm moment during work?

I will play this safe and pick a moment from an old job.. This was at my first office job, I was tasked with composing a letter to go out to hundreds of clients to explain some upcoming property works my organisation were going to complete in the coming months. I made a very unfortunate typo involving the words “asset management” (I’ll let you come to your own conclusions as to which word was wrong). After convincing myself that I’d checked the template enough times to be sure it was correct, in my infinite wisdom, printed over 700 copies of the letter. I put a copy on my boss's desk, who rather swiftly highlighted my error much to my embarrassment.

8. If you could switch jobs with someone famous, who would it be?

David Attenborough. He has had such an exciting and varied career exploring our planet and making inspiring documentaries that both wow and educate people.

9. What's one thing people don't know about you that they would be surprised to find out?

Hmm.. Maybe that I’m a qualified Tree Surgeon. I had no idea what career I wanted to pursue when I left school, but as I already had a Saturday job working for a tree surgery company, I decided to make that a full-time job. Several chainsaw and climbing qualifications later, and I could proudly call myself an arborist. Whist I don’t climb up trees with a chainsaw (other than my own trees) anymore, I do still put my climbing skills to the test in my free time with some recreational climbing.

10. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

I quite like the idea of being able to fly, but maybe that’s mainly to avoid the queues at airports!
